Online Scams, And How To Avoid Them

Uncategorized Oct 29, 2019

Not all scams are created equal. Not all of them are after your money. As scams become craftier and more complex, how can we protect ourselves?

First, a story…

So, you’re at work when you get a Facebook message from your mum: “OMG have you seen this pic of you LOL”

What? You click the link to see the picture and get redirected to a Facebook login page. You enter your email and password and hit Log In. Then the browser window disappears. Hmm. So you open another browser window and head back to Facebook. Only to find that you’re still logged on.

In fact, you were always logged on. The link you clicked in your mum’s message had simply redirected you to a fake login page. Your mum’s account had been hacked and now the hackers have your login details too.

It’s scary stuff when you consider that most of us use the same password across multiple accounts. Once they have your email and password, what other accounts could...

5 Ways To Stay Money Savvy This Christmas

Uncategorized Oct 29, 2019

1. Have a minimalistic Xmas

Christmas is a time for laughter, cheer, family, friends and ….a LOT of waste. In fact around 227,000 miles of wrapping paper is thrown away every year and over 6 million Christmas trees are discarded. Not to mention how many toys end up in landfill by early in the new year. So why not make a commitment with your family to have a zero waste Xmas. Make a donation to your favourite charity, have a no gift policy or only buy presents from charity stores.

2. Stop treating yo self

If you’re like us, then when you pop to the shops to go Christmas shopping for family and friends, you somehow manage to also end up getting yourself a few extra presents…because hey it’s been a long year! Well then maybe online shopping is a safer option for you? Look at quality presents from Etsy that you can personalise or use an Amazon Discount Finder. This allows you to search for specific discounts such as Hair Straightener 25% off, Make-up...

5 Minute Budget Planner

Uncategorized Oct 29, 2019

We have created a super simple budget planner for you – now I ain’t no spread sheet warrior but this I love cause it is so easy to use.

The best way to use this budget calculator is to:

1. Be realistic  – write in the correct amounts, if you’re not sure of them, then just estimate or look through some of your last month’s bank statements.

2. Spend just one week writing down everything you purchase separately (yes even those quick trips to Pret and boots).

3. Take another look at your budget and adjust…. is it realistic? If you’re in the red you can either earn more or spend less. They are the only two options!

4. Stick to it. You can do this. #BACKINTHEBLACK

Does Your Pension Need Attention?

Uncategorized Oct 29, 2019

So for some of us talking pensions is as much fun as… well nothing! So we will try and make this as pain free as a good Brazilian waxer. When your in your 20’s-30’s even 40’s talking pensions is a topic that’s really hard to connect with … I mean I’m trying to tackle tinder not my retirement, therefore we put it off and stuff those envelopes in a draw (you know the A4 sized ones).

However the stats don’t lie and ladies, we gotta wake up and smell the coffee (cause it’s burning). We are living longer, earning less and retiring on HALF THE PENSION of men.  More than half of us ladies who hold a pension don’t know where it’s invested and a close to a third of us (37%) don’t know how much it is worth.

Let’s think of your pension as your future freedom fund, because essentially that’s what it is. You’re putting away money now...

Girls Just Wanna Have Funds – Investing tips

Uncategorized Oct 29, 2019

Rachel O’Connor Director of Flourix Wealth has put her top tips together for us!  Thanks Rach (we are sending you a long distance high five).

1. Write down your goals and divide them up into short term (1-3 years), medium term (4-6 years) and long term (7+ years).

The point of investing is to get you to your goals. It’s not about beating the share market, ‘buying high selling low’, the next hot tech stock or anything else like that. It’s all about you, your goals and getting you there. So the first thing you need to do is write down your goals and be as specific as possible. This is going to determine the kinds of investments you will make and therefore the results you achieve.

2. Compounding Returns

‘Compounding’ is what is happening when your money is making money. It happens when you take a number and grow it over and over by a percentage. In order to make compounding work for you, you need to start as soon as possible and...

Who has gone into buy milk and have come out with everything but milk! Yeah me too,

so supermarkets are designed to make you spend more literally from the moment before you even enter.
